Baby boy's big chop

My bubba's - so precious.

So whilst Mummy was away on Saturday, Daddy went and big chopped our little man's hair...

We had briefly discussed this a few times, because like his two older sisters; he screams the place down as soon as you put your hand in his hair, it was all different lengths due to him losing a lot of it at the front a year ago due to the reemergence of cradle cap, plus he was often being mistaken for a girl, so I knew it was going to happen soon, especially with the current heat wave, so now was as good a time as any.

I did expect to be there though, so when the pictures got sent to me out of the blue whilst I was at Old Spitalfields Market I didn't know whether to laugh, scream or cry. For a split second I didn't even recognise the little boy with the shorn hair looking back at me. It definitely was a shock.

Daddy did a good job though, because man, Elijah can scream when his hair is getting brushed let alone barbered (don't know if that's a word lol). The shape up is woefully lacking, but when a two year old isn't co-operating this is as good as it going to get.
He's a big boy now!

Mummy's baby is definitely not a baby anymore *sad face*.

Beautiful Textures UK launch

I've been so busy going to all these fabulous events, I almost forgot about the Beautiful Textures launch I was lucky enough to attend at the end of May after winning a pair of tickets on Crystal Afro's United Kinkdom blog.

The Beautiful textures UK launch was an invite only affair so I was chuffed to bits to win the tickets especially as this was the first hair event I have attended. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

I don't have any pics because I was too busy eating (all drinks and canapés were on the house. It really was a swanky affair) and chatting to all the lovely bloggers and vloggers I met, but the event sponsored by the lovely Lukwesa of Gidore was amazing.

As soon as my sister and I entered the VIP room at Bar Soho we were handed goodie bags which contained Beautiful Textures tangle taming leave in conditioner and curl control defining pudding, along with shampoo sachet samplers and a Beautiful Textures t-shirt. We were like kids in a candy store gasping with delight and grinning from ear to ear.

Marketing Guru Charlene Bastien gave a detailed run down on the product lines and rather impressively each product within the Beautiful Textures range does not exceed £5.00. Now that was really good to hear, especially since many natural hair products are rather on the pricey side due to the small size of the businesses behind them. Beautiful Textures comes from the same company that produces well established brands such as QP Elasta and Keracare, so it stands to reason that they are able to sell their products for that little bit cheaper.

Celebrity stylist Felicia Leatherwood shared hair advice and also demonstrated how the products work by using them on a selection of models with varying hair textures. So far I have used the tangle taming leave in conditioner on both of my daughters and I am very pleased with the results. With my second daughter, it definitely enhances her curl pattern, with my eldest it has really nourished her hair and made detangling easier.

The event was so good and I'm so glad I got to go. The natural hair scene is really gathering pace in the UK and it's great to witness and be a part of it. I aim to keep my twitter feedFacebook page and blog updated with events I hear about in the future, so be sure to keep a look out as they are definitely worth attending.

Dr Organics - Virgin olive oil face scrub and day cream

I have started using the Dr Organics face scrub and day cream and I have to say it is glorious.

I particularly love this range because of all the natural ingredients and general loveliness. My old face cream had yucky parabens, which are chemicals that are used to preserve many different types of cosmetics and toiletry products. It is thought that parabens cause certain types of cancers. So I'm choosing to steer clear of them and use hair products, toiletries and cosmetics which do not contain this potentially harmful chemical.

I first came across the Dr Organics range in Holland and Barrett a few months ago when I started using the tea tree shampoo for my little boy. A few days ago I discovered additional products in the range. I've been on the look out for new face creams and scrubs and I liked the look of the ingredients, so I thought I'd give them a try. The scrub was £6.19 and the day cream £8.19, so the prices aren't the cheapest.

I started using the day cream straight away. It left my skin feeling really soft and supple without feeling greasy. It also gave my face a nice glow. The cream has a very lovely, subtle scent too. It doesn't smell much like olive oil which isn't necessarily a bad thing, although I do love using olive oil straight out of the bottle on mine and my children's hair and skin.

I used the face scrub for the first time this morning and I was very impressed with it. Face scrubs I've used in the past have often felt harsh and overly scratchy with a scent which left a lot to be desired. The granules in this scrub do not feel too abrasive and the creamy consistency makes application easy. My skin was left feeling super soft and invigorated. After rinsing I applied the day cream and I was totally fresh faced and ready to begin my day. Fabulous.

It is early days but I'm really pleased with these products so far and I would definitely recommend them.

This isn't a review post. It's simply me sharing the products I find, use and enjoy, with you : )
