Baby boy's big chop

My bubba's - so precious.

So whilst Mummy was away on Saturday, Daddy went and big chopped our little man's hair...

We had briefly discussed this a few times, because like his two older sisters; he screams the place down as soon as you put your hand in his hair, it was all different lengths due to him losing a lot of it at the front a year ago due to the reemergence of cradle cap, plus he was often being mistaken for a girl, so I knew it was going to happen soon, especially with the current heat wave, so now was as good a time as any.

I did expect to be there though, so when the pictures got sent to me out of the blue whilst I was at Old Spitalfields Market I didn't know whether to laugh, scream or cry. For a split second I didn't even recognise the little boy with the shorn hair looking back at me. It definitely was a shock.

Daddy did a good job though, because man, Elijah can scream when his hair is getting brushed let alone barbered (don't know if that's a word lol). The shape up is woefully lacking, but when a two year old isn't co-operating this is as good as it going to get.
He's a big boy now!

Mummy's baby is definitely not a baby anymore *sad face*.

Little boys

Look at that face. Soo cute yet soo mischievous.
Love him to death.

I heard a rumour that little boys were mischevious, high energy, boisterous, unrelenting you know what I'm talking about. You've heard it too right? Well I never, ever believed it. Well that is until I had a little boy of my own. Wow-wee my son is all of the above and more. I don't ever remember my girls being such a...well a handful. Don't get me wrong children in all of their gorgeous loveliness are hard work, but this little man of mine is something else.

From the moment he opens his big, brown, bright eyes to the moment he goes to bed he is up to and into something and everything. Just to give you a bit of an idea, here is a quick list of the things he has been found doing;

Stabbing a banana with a pencil and proceeding to scoop out chunks and eat pieces of banana straight off the pencil.

Throwing his sister's clean knickers (from the clothes horse) and my full, unopened bottle of deodorant down the toilet. Oh he also tried to throw his Dad's pillow into the loo too. (He is obsessed with the toilet. Ewww).

Poking his eldest sister's puff (she had her hair up in a pineapple) with a pencil.

Turning off the TV a gazzillion times. *sigh*

Throwing his food on the floor and mushing it into the carpet. *joy*

Stopping the washing machine mid cycle several times. Each time the cycle had to be reprogrammed to start from the beginning.

Pouring his juice all over himself.

Jumping on the sofa, getting stuck behind the sofa and falling off of the sofa repeatedly.

Sneakily scribbling on the sofa.

Tearing a book

Any opportunity he gets to go into the bathroom (besides delving into the loo), he can be found running the cold water tap in the bath at full force, splashing about in delight and subsequently turning the bathroom into a wet room. Thank God for floor to ceiling tiles is all I can say.

Singing at the top of his lungs in the supermarket........

Ooooh this little one is only 15 months old and yet he is already such a larger than life character. I wouldn't change him for the world,  although the boundaries may have to step up a gear.......

What's in a name?

I've been debating whether to share this post because I was a bit down in the dumps when I wrote it. But I've come to the conclusion that it's good to share, and my dilemma may help others in a similar situation ....possibly. Anyway....

I'm still peeved that the other half completely vetoed my name choice for our son. Ever since I was pregnant with our first child I have loved the name Luca. So when I finally scraped my jaw off the floor after finding out I was pregnant for a third time and discovering it was a boy after two girls, Luca was the name I had my heart set on.

During the course of the pregnancy we felt we should probably go with a more biblical name, not least because this little boy is a blessing, of course our two girls are without question blessings too. But with my complicated pregnancy history I never thought we'd have a son.

So we changed our minds and chose a beautiful, strong biblical first name and I wanted Luca to be his middle name;

'We're not Italian' my other half scoffed. 'It's got no meaning' were the rebuttals ... 'Whatever' I'd immaturely respond.

Fast forward a few months and when we went to register the birth of our son the better half wanted a Ghanaian middle name. Now that's fair enough because the better half is mixed race English and Ghanaian and our girls have got two middle names, one of them Ghanaian - representing the day of the month they were born, so we'd have the same for our son, no issue?

Well there was an issue he only wanted one middle name and it had to be Ghanaian. No Luca for me. Looking back I feel like I was completely bullied into the decision, especially since I'd only given birth a few weeks before and my hormones were still all over the place so I didn't have the strength to argue my corner as I usually would.

Now here I am yearning for Luca , but what's in a name? Am I being silly? We have a beautiful healthy boy but this issue still keeps playing on my mind at unexpected intervals making me feel annoyed and sad. Mainly because I felt so powerless at the time.

Have you ever experienced being railroaded into something when you're at your most vulnerable only to regret it later?

Too fast

Image from notonthehighstreet.com
My little boy is pulling himself up and standing lots, he never seems to want to sit down .

He will be walking before we know it. My nephew started walking at nine months and I think my boy is on track to do the same.

Maybe it's because he's my youngest but he seems to be reaching these milestones so fast.

My baby has all but gone...*sigh*

Be happy

I've been inspired by a project that Kate, at the 'Kate takes 5' blog has been mulling over. She questions the concept of happiness, and what really makes people happy. She reaches the conclusion that asking your children what makes them happy produces the best results. Thus the 'happiness project' was born .

Kate has decided to run a blog hop, so all the wise responses can be pulled together into a big smiley rainbow of happiness. I asked my girls and kind of guessed for my baby boy, but I'm sure if he could talk he'd agree lol. Their answers made me laugh out loud and grin from ear to ear.....

My eldest
Ice cream & lollipops

My middle child
Orange squash & beans

My baby
Crackers, fruit purée and silly faces

Just goes to show that happiness is very easy to achieve....when you're a child at least.

Two teeth

I'm loving this wooden heart teether.
Image from thehipstermom.com
My little boy finally has two little bits of white teeth poking through his gums. I can't believe it.

Despite being the mother of not one, not two, but three children, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly time flies.

Each one of my children seems to have passed the 'baby, baby' stage in the blink of an eye. I know they are still very young (four, two and a half and seven months) and we have plenty more years of child rearing ahead of us, but sometimes I want time to slow down, it feels like everything is happening way too quickly.Yes, day to day can be a struggle sometimes, but in the grand scheme of things these moments feel far too short.

My son has started crawling too. He drags himself across the floor kamikaze style. Little knees working, bottom in the air. He is so cute.

My middle daughter has already grasped the concept of boredom at the ripe old age of two and a half.... and my eldest daughter starts school this year.

We have certainly got our hands full for now, but soon they will be completely independent of us, and will no longer need our numerous cuddles and kisses throughout each day. Time NEVER stays still.

Time to deliver some more cuddles and kisses I think....
